Talking about the project, Seroussi explains, “It’s about an immersion that evokes a variety of reading: the life of the baby in the mother womb, birth and death. I was looking for something dramatic, abyssal as in a fall in a dream. We don’t know where we go, we don’t see the beginning nor the end of the story. We don’t know if we can touch the bottom, if it’s calm or rough.”

Expanding on this through the choreography, Jalet details, “We worked together to recreate this ambivalent feeling we got from performing in the bay of Ishinomaki – one of the areas most devastated by the 2011 tsunami; the ambivalence of water as a simultaneously devastating and repairing force. Here is a dancing portrait of a man on a liminal edge, on the fluid and mirroring frontier of an overwhelming element that evokes both death and rebirth.” — NOWNESS
